This is my rifle.

これぞ我が銃。

There are many like it,but this one is mine.

銃は数あれど、我がものは一つ。

My rifle is my best friend.

我が命。

I must master it as I must master my life.

我、命を制すごとく銃を制すなり。

Without me,my rifle is useless.

我なくして、銃は役立たず。

Without my rifle,I am useless.

銃なくして、我は役立たず。

I must fire my rifle true.

我、的確に銃を撃つなり。

I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me.

我を殺さんと欲する敵よりも勇猛に、銃を撃つなり。

I must shoot him before he shoot me.

撃たれる前に、必ず撃つなり。

I will.

我誓う。

Before God I swear this creed.

神かけて、この信条を。

My rifle and myself are defenders of my county.

我と我が銃は、祖国を護る守護者なり。

We are the masters of our enemy.

我らは敵には征服者。

So be it until there is no enemy,but peace.

敵が滅び、平和が現れるその日まで、かくあるべし。（注２）
