I'm experimenting with a method to periodically "ping" a dummy file in an external SD folder to keep it cached on an Xperia 1 VII with Android 15.
This is because opening large photo/music folders on a SanDisk Extreme PRO 2TB microSDXC takes ~30–45 s on first access, but <1 s if reopened within 10–20 min, indicating aggressive cache eviction.
I intend to use MacroDroid to read a small placeholder file every 6 minutes.
I’d appreciate feedback on whether this is technically sound and battery-efficient, or if a MixPlorer + DirectFS script would be a better approach.
Rooting or heavy modifications are not an option for me — just looking for a lightweight, sustainable workaround.
